Organisers of the Saoirse Saddlery sponsored dressage league which is currently taking place at Ballygar Equestrian Centre would like to thank everyone who travelled to its shows during the very cold weather.
So far eighty-eight tests have been ridden over two days with competitors coming from ten clubs. Dressage to music is proving to be a surprise hit with the competitors and spectators alike. Dalysgrove's Caroline Rushe and Tonabrockey's Marjorie Hardiman who won their dressage to music classes on the first league outing this year, inspired many others to take part last Sunday, where there were fifteen competing in the music classes. Ballinasloe members Niamh Macken and Sylvia Braumberger showed their musical side with two wins in the dressage to music. Niamh made it a day to remember by also winning the advanced primary spoils on Captain Smirnoff.
The competition is still wide open in the other grades. In the primary division, Dalysgrove's Donna Murray riding Troy and club chairman John Miland on Myrah Morningstar have each won a leg of the league so far.
In the Intermediate section, Marjorie Hardiman was back on winning form on Creganna Clover as the Tonabrockey rider bid's to retain their title won last year. They have strong competition from Castle Carraigs Katherina Synnott who won the first leg of the league on Gurraun Baraka.
With one win a piece in Advanced Intermediate, Tonabrockey's Mark Field on Creganna Yankee and Tynagh's Margaret Hynes on Cottage Fire are battling it out for the spoils as each have won a round so far.
In the Open / Advanced Open, Margaret Keane claimed the honours on their forst outing for Corrib but second placed Emma-Jane Dawson Stanley went one better for Bridge Riding Club last week by taking the honours.
Castle Carrig riders Serena Finnerty and Katherina Synnott won the best-turned out prizes. The league continues on Sunday 7th March and ends on Sunday 21st March. |
