Cork County Council is seeking submissions from members of the public on their draft beach bye-laws by 15th March 2010.

They are seeking the submissions to allow for amendments to be made in line with public wishes.

The bye-laws will regulate use and access by members of sports clubs, dog owners, hobby riders, surfers, boat owners and tourists who expect the opportunity to utilise the beaches in the area.

Clubs in the area are urging members of the South West Region to look at the draft bye-laws and respond with any reservations about its proposed regulations to send the sample letter below to the Coastal Management Committee secretary before the 15th March 2010.

The Coastal Management Committee councillors are outlined below and clubs in the area are urging members to contact each one and advise them of your reservations, otherwise they will make the decision to approve the current draft on the 23rd March next.

These bye-laws were introduced in County Clare in 2008 but only after the public had sufficient time to view and submit submissions.  There are concerns that just eight weeks of a consultation window have been allowed for consultation on this occasion by Cork County Council.
